We are a Bury based business that has always had a strong ethos orientated around family values. Through our commitment to these values, we feel we have built a strong bond with our co-workers and the surrounding community. We realise that without the community of Bury, its people and the businesses within it, we would not be where we are today. This is why we like to give something back and do our best to have a positive community impact.

Why is community impact important?
We believe that businesses have a responsibility to monitor and improve their community impact whenever possible. That is why we do our best to get involved and create opportunities for this through job creation, individual staff development opportunities, saving businesses money, providing useful energy advice and getting involved in charity fundraising.

Mind

In May, many brave runners turned out in force to show their support for those taking part in the Greater Manchester Run. This years show of strength was of special significance to the citizens of Manchester as it proved we are a force to be reckoned with.
In May, many brave runners turned out in force to show their support for those taking part in the Greater Manchester Run.
This years show of strength was of special significance to the citizens of Manchester as it proved we will not be intimidated into submission by recent events and that as a community we are a force to be reckoned with.
The day itself was a fantastic affair and activities took place throughout the day to coincide with the races.
Team Exchange Utility took part in the Manchester 10k to show our support for the charity Mind. This is a cause that is close to the hearts of many of our staff members and all who took part made a special effort to raise funds for it.
In the end, we managed to raise an impressive £1,815.94 for the charity - This money will go towards supporting those with a mental health disorder.

Cancer Research

Exchange Utility recruitment team took on the Be-GungHo! 5k Challenge in aid of Cancer Research. The girls conquered both the distance and a range of crazy obstacles during the event which helped us to raise hundreds for the charity.

The team consisted of Charlotte Walmsley, Natalie Fernandez, Claire Davison and Vanessa Fox - All of which finished in time and in style!
It was a brilliant day for all who participated and a great way to get people involved in charity fundraising efforts.

Bury Hospice

Fifty fantastic recruits from the Exchange Utility team took part in the 2017 Bury 10k to raise money for Bury Hospice - It was a fantastic day with some great achievements for the whole team! Fast forward to 6 years later and our team raised a further £1429 by running the Bury 10k in November 2022. Well done again to all those involved.

Each member of the Exchange Utility Fabulous 50 was tasked with raising £50 each in sponsorship's, so that together, we could make a real difference to Bury Hospice.
In November 2022 our team once again ran the Bury 10k and raised a further £1429.
Comic Relief

We went all out for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day. We set up a range of activities for staff to take part in and had a fantastic day across both of our sites. The result was brilliant as we managed to raised a decent amount for Comic Relief and had a great time doing it!

Events spanned over two days all together:
On the first day, we held a Red Nose Day themed cake baking competition and sale - with mystery prizes awarded to the best entries
On the second day of fundraising for Comic Relief, we had games and activities taking place throughout the day, a lunch time charity buffet and a hilarious sponge/ cream pie the manager game.
Participation in all events was excellent, which resulted in us being able to raise a total of £324.06 for the cause.
Macmillan

We took part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. For the day, we decided to hold the first ever Exchange Utility Cake Off competition where staff members competed to bake and sell the best cake!
At Exchange Utility, we decided to put a twist on the World's Biggest Coffee Morning by holding The Great Exchange Utility Cake Off! This event was designed to drive participation between our highly competitive members of staff in order to achieve the best possible result for Macmillan.
Staff were encouraged to get involved, showcase their sweetness and compete to be the best.
The winners from both of our Bury based sites were dictated on a range of standards, including presentation, taste and creativity.

Save the Children

We participated in Christmas Jumper Day to raise funds for the Save the Children charity. This event really helped us to get into the Christmas spirit of giving and everyone enjoyed getting involved.

Across both sites, the turn out of outrageous Christmas themed attire was spectacular. Each member of staff that participated donated at least £2 to Save the Children, which resulted in us being able to raise a fantastic £313.31!
Help the Homeless
Christmas Food Appeal
Last Christmas, we started a food appeal for the Bury Christian Fellowships Help the Homeless event. We experienced huge success in this an a lot of team members did their best to bring all they could so that we could help feed the homeless of Bury.

The Bury Christian Fellowship, we're pleased with the extra supplies that they received for their charity and put them to good use around the festive period.
At Exchange Utility we attract staff members from all walks of life, so this charity event was of special significance to some and we were proud to show our support for it.
Save Samantha

The teams at both Athenaeum House and Bridge House held charity events for the Saving Samantha Charity on Friday 9th June. It was a fantastic day of fun that all members of the team got involved with to both raise awareness and money for the Saving Samantha Charity.

This is a worthy cause to support a young mum who has a rare genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). This is a connective tissue disorder that affects the 'glue' that holds the body together and can be extremely painful.
To raise money for the Saving Samantha Charity we organised the following:
Bridge House dressed in sportswear, completed a cycling challenge and sold nutritious treats throughout the day including smoothies and fruit!
Athenaeum House held a Bollywood theme day where they dressed up, decorated their workstations and tucked into some authentic Indian food!
Samantha has now raised enough money to be able to go into stage one of surgery. We wish her and her family all of the luck in the world and hope that she recovers soon.

For the Love of Ted

Ted is 9 months old and has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. He is currently undergoing treatment for his condition, however, his family are in need of funds to help support them and their other children during this difficult time.
On Friday 25th November, Exchange Utility employees set out on a mission in search of community spirit to help raise money for Ted Waring. Ted is 9 months old and has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. This is why we plucked up all of the community spirit that we could, to raise as much as we could to help their cause.
For this fundraising day, the entire business dressed up in Disney themed costumes. We also had a fantastic response from local businesses, who donated range of prizes to be won in our raffle - We would like to thank these businesses for their support and generous donations! Furthermore, there was home made champagne, as well as cheese and biscuits on sales to add a touch of class to the day.
Everyone had a fantastic time and we are chuffed to bits with the amount we managed to raise for Ted and his family - We wish them the best of luck in the future.
